It's St. Patrick's Day and I realized that while I know their is a very strong "horse culture" in Ireland, I didn't really know anything at all about how that came to be. Ireland is an island (it is after all called the Emerald Isle) and horses on islands generally arrive there along with explorers. But a bit of research soon enlightened me to the fact that horses found Ireland long before it was an island! Edythe Preet from Irish America magazine did a great blog post on the subject of Irish horses and you can read it at https://www.irishamerica.com/2017/03/slainte-the-irish-and-their-horses/
